[16][17] In August 2019, Shim signed with Saint Mary's University (Halifax), a U Sports competitor, after being heavily recruited by head coach, James Colzie III.
[20][21] He was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree, however, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted athletic competition, resulting in the cancellation of the NCAA Division II college football season.
