The Journal of Biomedical Informatics is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that covers research in health informatics or in translational bioinformatics.

It is considered a premier methodology journal in the field of biomedical informatics.

The journal was established by Homer R. Warner in 1967 under the name Computers and Biomedical Research and was renamed beginning with Volume 34 in 2001, when it was redesigned under the leadership of Edward H. Shortliffe as its editor-in-chief.
