Julio Emilio Velarde Flores (born 30 June 1952)[1] is a Peruvian banker who is Chairman of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru since 7 September 2006.
[citation needed] Between 1978 and 1983 Velarde worked as researcher and associate professor of economics at Universidad del Pacífico.
This year he was named Executive President of the Latin American Reserve Fund, a post he held until 2006.
[citation needed] Associated with the Christian Popular Party (PPC), he was head of the government planning committee for the Lourdes Flores presidential campaign in the 2006 general election.
He was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru on 26 July 2011.
