Kamal Narain Singh (13 December 1926 – 8 September 2022)[1] was an Indian jurist who served as the 22nd Chief Justice of India.
At 17 days, his tenure as chief justice is the shortest.
[2] As a lawyer, Singh practiced civil, constitutional and taxation law since 1957.
He joined the Supreme Court in 1986 and served as Chief Justice of India from 25 November 1991 until 12 December 1991.
Over the course of his Supreme Court tenure, Singh authored 100 judgments and sat on 336 benches.
