Kamrul Ahsan, a career foreign service officer, served as Bangladesh Ambassador to the Russian Federation from January 2020 to September 2024.
[6][7] He was concurrently accredited as Bangladesh Ambassador to Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela and Jamaica from 2012 to 2016 with residence in Ottawa.
From 1995 to 1999, he served at Bangladesh High Commission in London, United Kingdom initially as First Secretary and later as Counsellor.
[7] From 2001 to 2003, he served initially as Counsellor and then as the Deputy Chief of the Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, United States.
He was in the drafting group for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) during the Framework Convention on Climate Change Meetings in Geneva.
