The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola.

The municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.

[2] The local church is dedicated to Saint George (Slovene: sveti Jurij) and belongs to the Parish of Tržišče.

It is a medieval building with a Romanesque nave, a Gothic presbyterium, and the church tower from the 17th century.

It stands in the hamlet of Sveti Jurij[3] on St. George's Hill (Slovene: Šentjurski hrib).
