In track & field, Martin was one of the state's top performers in the jumping and hurdling events.
He qualified for the state finals in the high jump by leaping 6 ft 6 in (1.99 m) at the 2010 NCHSAA 2A Mideast Regional.
[2] At the NCHSAA 2A State Track Championship, he tied for 2nd place in the high jump, with a leap of 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m).
In 2011, he started all 12 games and earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honors.
