Karin Lisa von Hippel (born February 1965) is the current Director-General of the Royal United Services Institute.

[3] von Hippel holds a PhD from the London School of Economics, an MSt from Oxford, and a BA from Yale.

[5][6] von Hippel was a senior research fellow at the Centre for Defence Studies, King’s College London.

[5][6] von Hippel co-directed the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.

[5][6] von Hippel was chief of staff to General John R. Allen while he was Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter-ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant).
