McCarty was born on January 24, 1993, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and attended Oak Grove High School.
[1] Afterwards, he enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance.
[1] While in college, McCarty started Java Moe's Coffee Company and now operates a chain of five locations in Mississippi.
McCarty first ran in the special election to replace former Representative Brad Touchstone, who resigned to take a seat on the Lamar County Court.
