Often referred to as a "flying car" the aircraft was developed by its inventor as a means to cope with heavy road traffic in Manila.
He also named the deteriorating traffic situation in Metro Manila as a motivator in developing the Millenya and envisioned people flying to their destination in minutes instead them spending two to three hours riding traditional road transport.
After a video featuring the aircraft went viral in social media, Australian firm Star8 has expressed interest in partnering with Mendiola to develop Millenya for mass production.
[2] As of September 2018, the aircraft can carry a payload of 80 to 100 kilograms (180 to 220 lb) and can fly at 50 to 60 kilometers per hour (31 to 37 mph).
