On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast was reduced to seven, and the status of Kryvyi Rih Municipality was subordinated directly to the enlarged Kryvyi Rih Raion.

[4] The municipality consists[5] of 1 city (Kryvyi Rih proper) and 5 villages.

The area of the hromada is 431.9 square kilometres (166.8 sq mi),[5] and the population is 606,584 (2022 estimate).

The council has 33 standing commissions which play an important role in controlling the finances and trading practices of the city and its merchants.
