Unincorporated communities in the township include Blacklog and Krause in the valley between Blacklog Mountain and Shade Mountain, Cross Keys and Peru Mills along Pennsylvania Route 35, and Spears Grove, Waterloo, and Perulack along Pennsylvania Route 75 (PA 75).

The racial makeup of the township was 99.07% White, 0.13% African American, and 0.80% from two or more races.

20.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was sixty-five years of age or older.
