Lady Rose Sophia Mary Weigall (née Fane; 5 September 1834 – 14 February 1921) was a British philanthropist and the biographer of Princess Charlotte of Wales.
[1] Weigall was born in London, the youngest of nine children of John Fane, Lord Burghersh (who became in 1841) and Priscilla Anne Pole-Wellesley.
[5] After her brother Julian's early death, she became co-guardian to his children, John and Ethel (future Lady Desborough) together with their maternal uncle, Henry Cowper.
She was aware of the need to keep her mind active and she gave her time to history, correspondence and literary interests.
[2] The Thanet Advertiser reported in its obituary of Weigall that she was active on the Board of Guardians of Nethercoat VAD Hospital, and that she knitted mittens and socks for soldiers who had been injured and as a result needed to have them made in different sizes and shapes.
