Lakemba railway station

It is currently closed for conversion works to enable it to be served by Metro North West & Bankstown Line services in the future.

[3][4] Previously, a shunting neck existed to the west of the station allowing services to terminate at Lakemba.

The original wooden ticket office above the station was demolished after it was heavily damaged by fire and replaced by a modern metal and glass structure.

[4] The station closed on 30 September 2024 to facilitate the conversion of the Bankstown railway line to Sydney Metro.

A war memorial was opened outside the station on 19 April 1953 by State Governor John Northcott.
