Laporje (pronounced [ˈlaːpɔɾjɛ]) is a village in the Municipality of Slovenska Bistrica in northeastern Slovenia.
[2] The village includes the hamlets of Laporska Gorca to the southeast and Turnše to the southwest.
The name is derived from the Slovene common noun lapor 'marl', referring to the characteristics of the local soil.
[4] The area was already settled in antiquity, as testified by the discovery of four carved stones during renovation of the church in 1907.
[3] The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saints Phillip and James and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor.
