Founded in 1879 as the Las Vegas Weekly Optic.,[2] then owner and editor, Russell A. Kistler, revamped the struggling weekly into a daily paper, calling it the Las Vegas Daily Optic.
[3] In 1908, the Las Vegas Daily Optic was renamed the Las Vegas Optic[4] In 2021, the newspaper's owner Landmark Community Newspapers was sold to Paxton Media Group.
[5] A couple months later the Las Vegas Optic was sold to O’Rourke Media Group.
