She entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as an Izmir deputy from the Republican People's Party in the 1946 general elections.
Her father, a member of the Kocamemi family, Manager of the Forest and Mines, Yusuf Kamil Bey was son of one of the old Ministers of Public Education, Abdullah Suphi Pasa (1818-1886).
And her mother is Nesime Hanim who was actively involved in Women's Associations in Thessaloniki and Istanbul during the Second Constitutional Era.
When she was only 17 years old she became secretary of the Ottoman Women's Society, which was founded by her mom Nesime Hanim with the help of Committee of Union and Progress.
In addition to her activities on women's rights, she pioneered the establishment of many aid societies for the poor, children, disadvantaged groups and the disabled people.
