Her collection, Small Gods of Grief (BOA Editions), won the 2001 Isabella Gardner Prize for Poetry.

[2] Her poems have been published in literary magazines and journals including Ploughshares,[3] The Washington Post, AGNI,[4] Harvard Review, and have been widely anthologized.

Her translations include The Plural of Happiness, Selected Poems by Herman de Coninck, co-translated with Kurt Brown (Oberlin College Press, 2006).

She taught poetry workshops in Colorado and co-directed the Aspen Writers' Conference from 1989 to 1992.

She is the widow of poet Kurt Brown and currently lives in Santa Barbara, California.
