Lawrence Maxwell Jr.

Lawrence Maxwell Jr. (1853–1927) was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 8th Solicitor General of the United States.

In 1875, Maxwell graduated from Cincinnati Law School and was admitted to the bar.

Following his admission, he practiced law in Cincinnati up until March 30, 1893, when he was appointed by President Cleveland to serve as Solicitor General.

Lawrence married Clara Barry Darrow on December 27, 1876, with whom he raised two daughters, Mrs. Majorie Graydon and Mrs. Jean Schmidlapp.
