Lawrence S. Margolis

Lawrence S. Margolis (March 13, 1935 – January 18, 2017) was a judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims from 1982 to 1997.

[1] Born in Philadelphia, to Reuben and Mollie Margolis, Margolis received a Bachelor of Arts from Central High School in Philadelphia,[2] followed by a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University) in 1957; and a Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School in 1961.

[3] He joined the United States Department of Justice as a trial attorney in the Criminal Division and special assistant United States attorney for District of Columbia from 1966 to 1968,[2] also serving as a consultant to the President's National Crime Commission from 1966 to 1967.

[2] On September 27, 1982, Margolis was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to a new seat on the United States Claims Court authorized by 96 Stat.

[3] Margolis married Doris May Rosenberg on January 30, 1960, with whom he had two children, Mary Aleta and Paul Oliver.
