Lawrence Township forms the western, southern and eastern borders of Lawrenceville.

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 1,721 people, 659 households, and 506 families residing in the township.

The racial makeup of the township was 99.36% White, 0.17% African American, and 0.46% from two or more races.

17.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
