Leonard Whibley (20 April 1864 – 8 November 1941) was a British scholar who edited A Companion to Greek Studies from 1905 to 1931.
[1] Leonard Whibley was born 20 April 1864 at Gravesend, Kent, England.
[2] His parents were Ambrose Whibley,[3] silk mercer, and his second wife, Mary Jean Davy.
[citation needed] For a short time Whibley worked in publishing at Methuen and shared a house with his brother Charles, William Ernest Henley and George Warrington Steevens.
[1] He returned to academia with a lectureship in Classics (Ancient History) at Cambridge from 1899 to 1910.
