She received the 1999 Janice A. Lumpkin Educator of the Year Golden Torch Award from the National Society of Black Engineers.
[1] In 2000, she was the associate dean of research outreach at the Mississippi State University (MSU) College of Engineering.
[1] She developed the schools ergonomic and human factors program in the MSU department of industrial engineering.
[2] Crumpton-Young was the department head and professor of industrial engineering and management systems at the University of Central Florida.
[2] She received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring from U.S. president Barack Obama.
