The Li Ka Shing Foundation (simplified Chinese: 李嘉诚基金会; traditional Chinese: 李嘉誠基金會) is a Hong Kong-based charitable organization founded in 1980 by Hong Kong entrepreneur Li Ka-shing.
Li Ka-shing considers the Li Ka Shing Foundation to be his "third son" and has pledged to donate one-third of his assets to support philanthropic projects.
He has called for other Asian entrepreneurs to do the same, in the hope of altering the traditional notion of passing wealth through lineage.
[1] To date, Li Ka-shing has invested over HK$30 billion in projects covering education, medical services, charity and anti-poverty programmes, with about 80% of the projects in mainland China and Hong Kong.
