The British nominations were led by The Theory of Everything, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game and Selma, with The Grand Budapest Hotel going on to win large numbers of technical awards, whilst Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore won multiple best leading actor and leading actress awards for The Theory of Everything and Still Alice respectively.
British films did, however, notably lose out to Boyhood and Birdman (both from the United States).
