The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology is one of the highest multidisciplinary science awards in India.
[1] It was instituted in 1958 by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in honor of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar, its founder director and recognizes excellence in scientific research in India.
[2] Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar, (1894–1955), popularly known in India as the Father of Research Laboratories, was the founder director-general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
A recipient of the civilian honor of the Padma Bhushan, he was knighted by the Queen of Britain in 1941.
