Chris Rock is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, producer, and film director.

He created and hosted his own talk for HBO, The Chris Rock Show which ran from 1997 to 2001 and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1999.

He won the same award for his HBO comedy special Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger (2008).

Rock created the semi-autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris (2005–2009) for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

He received three Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album for Roll with the New (1998), Bigger & Blacker (1999), and Never Scared (2004).
