The list of shipwrecks in 1917 includes ships sunk, foundered, grounded, or otherwise lost during December 1917.

Halifax Explosion: The cargo ship collided with Mont-Blanc ( France) at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Mont-Blanc caught fire and was obliterated in a massive explosion that killed approximately 2,000 people and drove Imo ashore.

Imo subsequently was refloated on 26 April 1918, repaired, and returned to service.
