Vijayawada formerly known as Bezawada, is the second most populous city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
It is the administrative headquarters of the NTR district and a part of State's Capital Region.
Vijayawada lies on the banks of Krishna River and Budameru Rivulet surrounded by the hills of Eastern Ghats.
Vijayawada is considered to be a sacred place for famous temples, churches, mosques and jain temples.
It also serves as the ritual host of Pushkaram (a river worshipping ritual in India) of River Krishna.
