[1][2] Born in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, Liu moved to Shanghai with his family to pursue football training.

Liu made his professional debut for Shanghai Shenhua in the 2024 AFC Champions League Elite, coming on as a substitute against Central Coast Mariners in November 2024.

Despite limited senior-team minutes, he remained a prolific scorer in youth competitions, including a standout performance in the 2024 U21 League playoffs, where he scored twice in a single match.

Liu gained national attention during the 2025 U20 Asian Cup, where he scored crucial goals against Qatar and Kyrgyzstan, including a decisive penalty won.
