Louhans (French pronunciation: [lu.ɑ̃]) is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France.
Louhans is centrally located on the plain of Bresse,[4] a strongly agricultural region in the eastern part of the department of Saône-et-Loire.
The Seille flows south-southwest through the western part of the commune and crosses the town.
The population data given in the table below for 1968 and refer to the commune of Louhans in its geography at the given dates.
In 1973 Louhans absorbed the former communes of Châteaurenaud, Branges and Sornay.
