Louise Hall Tharp

Louise Hall Tharp (1898–1992) was an American biographer.

She was born in Oneonta, New York, but when she was very young the family moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, where her father was vicar of the North Congregational Church.

[1] She trained as an artist for two years at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, then went with her father on a tour of Europe.

[1] She married Carey Hunter Tharp of Huntsville, Texas.

[2] Tharp published four books of historical fiction before she wrote her first biography, Champlain: Northwest Voyager.
