[3] She also served as the vice president and general secretary of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.
[5] Kamalam started her political career as a councillor in Kozhikode Municipal Corporation.
[6] She resigned from Congress in protest against the declaration of emergency in 1975 and joined Janata Party.
She contested from Calicut in 1977 in Sixth Lok Sabha election but did not win.
[4] Kamalam died on 30 January 2020 at her residence near Nadakkavu in Kozhikode at the age of 93.
