M2 mine

The M2 is a United States bounding anti-personnel mine used during World War II.

Copies of the mine were produced by Belgium (as the PRB M966), Pakistan (P7), Portugal (M/966) and Taiwan.

A pyrotechnic delay fuse triggers the mine when it has risen to between two and three meters in height.

The US began development of the anti-personnel mines in the summer of 1940 spurred on by events in the Second World War.

As of 2006[update] Cyprus,[3] Greece,[4] Turkey,[5] and possibly Taiwan[6] hold stockpiles of this mine.
