Macaulay (surname)

Macaulay, Macauley, MacAulay, McAulay and McAuley are surnames of Irish origin originating in Westmeath, Leinster anglicized from Irish Mac Amhalghaidh in the English language.

Some of the Irish Macaulay's settled in Scotland during the reign of Robert the Bruce.
