The temple witnesses high footfall during Mahashivratri when the devotees from nearby villages gather here for Lord Shiva’s blessing.
[5] The temple has a Kund and it is believed to be connected to another old town, Arang of Chhattisgarh state, through a tunnel.
The Garbhagriha houses a Shiva Linga of about 1.5 feet in height,[4] which is approached through a highly ornate door entrance guarded by Shaiva Dwarpalas.
The mandapa pillars are adorned with images of Bhairava, Vishnu, Mahishasur mardini[4] (a form of Devi Durga who killed the demon Mahishasura), Shiva, musicians, dancers and Kirtimukha designs.
One can find pictorial representation of hunting, hunters and bull fighting on the walls of temple.
[4] It is believed that the sculptor who was building the temple was so engrossed in his work that he didn’t care about his clothes.
[1] The locals believe there is a secret tunnel inside the Kund that leads to a temple in Arang.
