Mahmoud Shakir

Mahmoud Shakir (6 February 1935 – 25 December 2020) was an Iraqi weightlifter.

He competed in the men's middle heavyweight event at the 1964 Summer Olympics.

[1] He won "dozens" of national championships and continued competing until age 45.

At his death in 2020, the historian Hajj Aqil Atara noted: "Shaker Mahmoud is famous as a champion of Iraq in the sport of bodybuilding and weightlifting, his fame is in training, as he has become one of the most famous coaches in Iraq, as he led the Iraqi teams in many world championships, Asian championships, Arab countries championships, and international championships.
