Makoto Tanaka (田中 誠, Tanaka Makoto, born August 8, 1975) is a Japanese professional football manager and former player who is currently the technical advisor of Singapore Premier League club Tanjong Pagar United.
After leaving the club in 2008, Tanaka then had a stint with Avispa Fukuoka, before retiring at the end of the 2011 season.
He was capped 32 times for the Japan national team and was part of the squad that won the 2004 AFC Asian Cup.
In 2006, he was called up for Japan's 2006 FIFA World Cup squad, but had to withdraw after sustaining a thigh injury prior to the tournament.
