Malnes Church

It is one of the churches for the Bø og Malnes parish which is part of the Vesterålen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland.

Each church parish was a constituency that elected people called "electors" who later met together in each county to elect the representatives for the assembly that was to meet at Eidsvoll Manor later that year.

Rather than rebuilding on the same site, the church was rebuilt about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the south in the village of Eide.

[3] The church needed to be expanded by the end of the century, so in 1894 it was torn down and replaced with a new building.

The new church was built at Eide and it was consecrated on 7 April 1895 by Bishop Peter W. K. Bøckman, Sr.[6]
