[1] Prior to his election to the Texas legislature, DeAyala was a partner at Buck Keenan LLP, where he specialized in international arbitration law.

In April 2017, Governor Greg Abbott appointed DeAyala to a six-year term on the board of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice where he served as the Chair of the Business & Finance Committee and also served as Trustee of the Windham School District.
