Maria Domenica Lazzeri (1815–1848) also known as "la Meneghina" was an Italian mystic.
She worked as a farmer on her father’s land until she contracted an incurable disease.
She reported that on 17 December 1834, after a Marian vision, the visible signs of the Passion appeared on her body.
[1] According to her physician, she ate and drank nothing for the last 14 years of her life except for receiving Holy Communion.
She is frequently depicted with her hands joined bleeding as she lays upon her bed.
