Giannelli's college career was broken up by World War II, and he fought in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945.
[3] Gianelli was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.
He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1948, and played in the 1948 and 1949 NFL Championship Games.
[1] He was re-signed on June 30, 1951,[2] but was traded to the Green Bay Packers on April 25, 1952, in exchange for guard Buddy Burris.
[4] He retired from football on July 29, 1952, and returned to his hometown of Everett, Massachusetts.
