[3] He was commissioned in the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a pilot officer on 5 April 1998.

[5] After qualifying as a weapons instructor, he undertook a number of operational tours, including deployment to enforce the no-fly zones over Iraq.

[7] In 2018, he became station commander at RAF Coningsby,[8] and was awarded the Royal Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

[9] After completing of the Higher Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy, he became Head Operations, Plans & Training, United Kingdom Space Command at RAF High Wycombe in May 2021.

[11] Flewin was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 New Year Honours.
