Marti Emerald is an American politician and former television journalist who served as a member of the San Diego City Council representing District 7 from 2008 to 2012[1] and District 9 from 2012 to 2016.

[2] She is a Democrat, although city council positions are officially nonpartisan per California state law.

In the June 2012 primary, Emerald was elected to represent the newly created Council District 9, effective December 2012.
