Martin Hyman

[1][2] Hyman never had a coach; he educated himself in training theories, working with his Portsmouth team-mate Bruce Tulloh.

Running became an outlet for his driven personality, and he had the self-discipline to get the most out of himself while at the same time living a full life as a teacher and family man.

[4] He also represented England in the 6 miles race at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff, Wales.

[5] Four years later, he competed in both the 6 miles race and the marathon at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, Western Australia.

He was part of the team during that period that progressed the Squad from a very low level to world class.
