Mary Glindon

Mary Theresa Glindon[3] (née Mulgrove; born 13 January 1957) is a British Labour Party politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Newcastle upon Tyne East and Wallsend since 2024, and previously for North Tyneside from 2010 until the abolition of the constituency in 2024.

[7] In 2007 she supported a motion to grant Freedom of the Borough of North Tyneside to Wallsend Boys Club.

[11] As an MP her parliamentary voting record has included opposing the 'bedroom tax' and increasing welfare support for those unable to work due to illness or disability.

[14] Subsequently, in May 2013 the MP voted against the bill's third and final reading,[15] opposing the legalisation of same-sex marriage within England and Wales.

[18] She supported Owen Smith in the failed attempt to replace Jeremy Corbyn in the 2016 Labour Party leadership election.
