Massonnens (French: [masɔnɑ̃s]; Arpitan: Massonens, pronounced [maʃuˈnɛ̃] ⓘ or [maʃəˈnɛ̃]) is a municipality in the district of Glâne in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.
[3] Massonnens has an area, as of 2009[update], of 4.3 square kilometers (1.7 sq mi).
Of the rest of the land, 0.26 km2 (0.10 sq mi) or 6.1% is settled (buildings or roads).
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per fess, Gules, a Bend Or cottised Argent and of the second a Cross bottony of the first.
[8] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (391 or 97.0%) as their first language, German is the second most common (7 or 1.7%) and Portuguese is the third (2 or 0.5%).
[9] The age distribution, as of 2000[update], in Massonnens is; 54 children or 13.4% of the population are between 0 and 9 years old and 85 teenagers or 21.1% are between 10 and 19.

[8] There were 185 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 36.2% of the workforce.
In the tertiary sector; 8 or 50.0% were in wholesale or retail sales or the repair of motor vehicles, 2 or 12.5% were in the movement and storage of goods, 3 or 18.8% were in a hotel or restaurant, 1 was a technical professional or scientist, 2 or 12.5% were in education.
[8] From the 2000 census[update], 355 or 88.1% were Roman Catholic, while 6 or 1.5% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.
This is followed by three years of obligatory lower Secondary school where the students are separated according to ability and aptitude.
The upper Secondary school is divided into gymnasium (university preparatory) and vocational programs.
After they finish the upper Secondary program, students may choose to attend a Tertiary school or continue their apprenticeship.
