Maynard L. Taylor Jr.

[1] Taylor moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1941 to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as part of the military build-up in Alaska prior to the United States' formal involvement in World War II.

In Alaska, Taylor met Lavaun Berg of Basalt, Idaho, who was working as an army nurse.

He went on to found the community of Basher in what would eventually come to be known as the Stuckagain Heights neighborhood of Anchorage, in the foothills of the Chugach Mountains.

The third floor of this building was severely damaged during the 1964 Good Friday earthquake and was subsequently demolished.

In 1976, Taylor partnered with Bill Bittner to develop the Paso Del Sol subdivision in Congress, Arizona.
