Measurement Science and Technology is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal, published by IOP Publishing, covering the areas of measurement, instrumentation, and sensor technology in the sciences.

The editor-in-chief is Andrew Yacoot (National Physical Laboratory).

The first issue was introduced by J. J. Thomson, then president of the Institute of Physics, who stated that no publication existed at that time in the English language specially devoted to scientific instruments.

The need for interdisciplinarity was recognised even then, with the desire to co-opt biologists, engineers, chemists, and instrument makers, "as well as physicists", on the scientific advisory committee.

In 1990 the journal was renamed as Measurement Science and Technology to reflect the shift away from many scientists making their own instruments.
