Menashe Amir was born Manouchehr Sachmehchi (Persian: منوچهر ساچمهچی) in Tehran, Iran, on December 27, 1939 in a secular Jewish family.
In 2006, he founded the Persian version of the Israeli Foreign Ministry website, and served as its Chief Editor for 4 years.
